The Issue: Sen. Chris Van Hollen’s meeting with deportee Kilmar Abrego Garcia.
How does a politician from Maryland even think about going to a foreign country to meet with an illegal immigrant (“Dem sit with ‘gang’ inmate,” April 18)?
You are an elected official in the United States, Sen. Chris Van Hollen, and you’re spending American taxpayer dollars to get — I guess — what you believe is good press.
I know we’ve always had radicals in this country, and it’s not a bad thing to have people with divergent views.
However, a trip to a foreign country in this context should be on your own dime.

This country is in turmoil.
There is rampant antisemitism at universities, where radical idiots are protesting against Israel and Jewish students.
They weren’t even born during the era of World War II — nor were they alive for 9/11.
Now Sen. Chris Van Hollen has made one individual, Kilmar Abrego Garcia, his priority.
Why is this senator championing the return of an illegal immigrant while American citizens are still not safe in schools?
Did I miss something here?
Taxpayer dollars are hard at work — and we’re probably also paying for whatever is on the table at this amicable meeting between the senator and Abrego Garcia.

When common sense prevailed over stupidity in the November election, there was relief and hope for our nation.
Apparently the media and Democrats didn’t get the message.
They are resorting to the same tired tactics that put former President Joe Biden in office.
These people have absolutely no shame, as witnessed by the unpatriotic action of Maryland Sen. Chris Van Hollen.
The few conservative news outlets — The Post and Fox News particularly — do not seem to be enough to vanquish Trump Derangement Syndrome and the spread of the media’s anti-American sentiment.
We need to stop kidding ourselves; the warped left media is a clear and present danger to the United States and what it stands for.

Kilmar, a resident of Maryland, was pulled over while driving his young daughter, and abducted in blatant violation of a federal judge’s order.
You may ask: Why do “bleeding heart liberals” care about someone who The Post calls an “alleged gangbanger?”
The answer is simple: What if your loved one was pulled over, abducted and spirited out of the country by the government without any charges filed or a chance to contest these actions in court?
The government could say that your loved one is a “gangbanger” because he wore a Chicago Bulls hat or jersey and had the wrong tattoo.
That is all it would take to rip him from your home or your car and put him in a foreign maximum security prison with no rights or due process.

Democratic Sen. Chris Van Hollen traveled to El Salvador to plead for the release of illegal alien Kilmar Abrego Garcia, another huge waste of taxpayer dollars.
Have New Jersey Democratic Sens. Cory Booker or Andy Kim traveled to Gaza to beg for the release of New Jersey’s American citizen Edan Alexander, who has been a hostage in Gaza since 2023?
They haven’t done anything to Van Hollen’s extent, like pleading for his release from Hamas terrorists.
The rights of American citizens need to be protected first and foremost.

What kind of senator publicly announces that he’s going to visit an alleged gang member before he gets on the plane, without even knowing beforehand that he can see him?
And Van Hollen wants to make plans for the rest of us?

According to the Trump administration, the deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia was a mistake — similar to how SignalGate was a mistake.
Perhaps the Republican voters made a bigger mistake when they elected this mistake-prone genius for president.
