100-year-old Long Island woman can hold a plank for longer than most athletes: ‘Puts some of the class to shame’

She’s abs-olutely in great shape for her age.

A 100-year-old Long Island woman has become a fitness inspiration as she regularly works out at Bay Shore’s Great South Bay YMCA, going above and beyond the limits of most young athletic individuals.

“The Y keeps me alive and going in all aspects of my life,” said Jerry Leo, who just celebrated her new centenarian status last week.

“The socialization is fabulous, which is good for you. I come here and it’s my new family,” Leo, a member since 1961, added.

The fitness fanatic is incredibly fond of doing planks, an abdominal exercise that bridges your body up with only your forearms and toes.

Although Leo’s class holds the pose for a brutal two minutes, she elects to stay in the air for three with no sweat.

“It works your core absolutely beautiful,” she bragged.

And her instructor, Elizabeth Grant, has nothing but positive things to say about the Y’s seasoned superstar.

“Her form is beautiful and she can teach people how to do it the right way,” Grant told ABC7.

As for Leo’s friend Marion Saturno, she expressed some playful jealousy over the high standard.

“She definitely puts some of the class to shame, including me,” she said.

Having passed the century mark, Leo passed along this advice for longevity.

“Be consistent, be positive, and keep moving in whatever you do,” she told the outlet. “That’s very important.”
