Rep. Andy Biggs announces death of his daughter, 37, from cancer: ‘We are devastated’

Arizona Rep. Andy Biggs’ daughter died earlier this week after a courageous battle with cancer, he announced on social media Friday. The 37-year-old was a mother of three.

“Earlier this week, our daughter Cosette lost her battle with cancer. We are devastated by her passing, but take comfort knowing she is at peace with the Lord,” the 66-year-old Republican wrote on X.

“We are grateful our family could gather to spend her final days by her side,” he added.

“Thank you to everyone for your thoughts, prayers, and support. We are humbled by this great community and the outpouring of love for Cosette and our family,” Biggs’ statement concluded.

Cossette Biggs-Finerd, 37, had three young kids, according to the Arizona Capitol Times.

Condolences from political colleagues poured in on social media for the bereaved Biggs family.

“There is no greater loss than the loss of a child. I extend my deepest condolences to Representative Biggs and his entire family during this trying time,” Arizona’s Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs wrote on X.

“So sorry for your loss, Andy. This is such a profound loss, one that I wish you didn’t have to endure. Prayers and flowers coming your way,” Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) wrote on X.

“Praying for God’s comfort, peace and strength to consume the Biggs family. We love you and Cindy,” Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Co) wrote to her colleague on X.

Biggs and his wife Cindy, whom he married in 1982, share five other children and 11 grandchildren, according to his website.
