All wounded FSU shooting victims, alleged gunman Phoenix Ikner expected to make full recovery: hospital
All five people who were wounded after a mass shooter opened fire at Florida State University on Thursday are expected to make a “full recovery,” doctors said Friday.
Dr. Brett Howard, a surgeon at Tallahassee Memorial Health, where the suspect and victims were rushed after the attack, said “all six of them today are in stable condition.”
“We do feel all will make a full recovery,” he said at a press conference.
Two of the six wounded are expected to go home by the end of the day Friday, he said.
Doctors performed surgeries — including facial and abdominal procedures — on the wounded patients, none of whom were identified by the medical professionals.
All of the injured people were “clear minded” and “able to talk to us” after being admitted following the campus shooting Thursday, a second doctor said.
Authorities said Thursday that five people were wounded in the shooting, and that the alleged shooter, Phoenix Ikner, 20, was among those being treated at the hospital after he was shot by police.
Two people were killed in the shooting near the Tallahassee campus’s student union late Thursday morning.
