The death of Kyren Lacy has hit Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers hard.
Nabers, a teammate of Lacy’s at LSU, posted a message on Instagram Monday about the fellow wide receiver, who died of an apparent suicide in his car Saturday night while being pursued by police in Houston, per a Harris County sheriff’s report.
“Pain. Numb. Sad. Sorrowful. Downcast. Hurt. Broken. Devastated. Empty. Miserable 💔💔. So this how it feels huh!! To lose a part of yo heart😢,” Nabers wrote in a post featuring photos of the two. “Damn you loved unconditionally❤️❤️. You put a smile on everyone’s face ig we forgot to give you the same smile😭😭. Lacy, 24, crashed his vehicle while being pursued by cops Saturday night. Police said when they went to remove him from the car, they found Lacy dead of an apparent suicide, per the sheriff’s report.
His death comes roughly four months after he was arrested for his alleged involvement in a crash that killed a 78-year-old man in Louisiana.
Lacy was facing negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run and reckless operation of a vehicle charges, and a grand jury was set to begin hearing that case on Monday, according to multiple reports.
The Louisiana State Police Department said in January that Lacy illegally passed other cars in his 2023 Dodge Charger, causing a crash that led to the death of Herman Hall.
Lacy, who took part in LSU’s pro day on March 26, had declared for the 2025 NFL Draft, though his alleged involvement in the December crash hurt his draft stock.
